What is Firstline Wellness’ primary goal?
Our primary goal is to emphasize the importance of mental health in the First Responder culture. We aim to create proactive, prepared approaches for agencies and departments by implementing wellness policies, responding effectively to critical incidents, and providing science-based training tailored to the unique experiences of First Responders.
How do your services benefit First Responders?
By prioritizing proactive mental health approaches, we aim to support not only First Responders but also their families and the communities they serve. Our programs help equip First Responders with better coping mechanisms and encourage open mental health conversations during recruitment, roll calls, and post-trauma debriefings.
What challenges exist in the current mental health support system for First Responders?
Many existing systems are distrusted, underutilized, or lack leadership support. Leaders must prioritize employee wellness, just as they do physical fitness. Additionally, there’s often no clear structure or protocols for handling critical incidents or employee crises, leaving gaps in effective mental health responses.
What are the main struggles First Responders face regarding mental health?
- Lack of support after critical incidents, which may lead to PTSD.
- Insufficient support during personal crises.
- Neglect of mental health needs after retirement.

- Proven success with creating and managing Peer Support Programs in South Florida’s second-largest department.
- Firsthand experience handling critical incidents, long shifts, and emergencies.
